Elma Richeson Tankersley "Skinny"

On Thursday morning, January 7, 2021, God quietly returned to claim one of his own, Elma Richeson Tankersley, 94 of 1300 Enterprise Drive, Lynchburg, VA.
Elma was born on February 24,1926 in Amherst, VA to the late Abraham & Maude Richeson, Sr. On April 12, 1948, she was united in Holy Matrimony to James A. Tankersley, Sr. This union was blessed with twin sons, one of whom survived, James A. Tankersley, Jr. She is also survived by a devoted daughter-in-law, Verleria M. Tankersley, a loving granddaughter, Crishaun Tankersley Ferguson (Patrick) of Leesburg, VA; one loving great granddaughter Bellamy Ann Tankersley Ferguson.
At an early age Elma accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Piney Hill Baptist Church Amherst, VA where she faithfully attended Sunday School, church and yearly Homecoming Celebrations. She later joined Rivermont Baptist Church and participated in numerous fund raising programs and was a member of The Golden Gems.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Abraham, Howard, Henry, James, and Paige Richeson; sisters, Mary Jones, Stella Sledd, Hannah Carter, and Annis Sadler.
She is survived by her brother, Carlyle Richeson (Helen) of Newport News, VA and sister-in-law Virginia Richeson of Lynchburg, VA along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg, VA.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Centra Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center on Town Square.
