Mother Elsie Mae Witcher, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Elsie was born on June 29, 1939, to the late Ansie and Bailey Davis.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Glen Witcher; her sisters, Rebecca Slayton, Virginia Davis, and Florence Humble; and her brothers, William Davis, Deroy Davis, Roosevelt Davis, and Henderson Davis.
She leaves to cherish her memories seven devoted children: M. Frances Hunt (Aaron), Will Witcher (Emma), Debra Alexander (Tony), Glen Witcher of Greensboro, N.C., Jane Jones, Fred Witcher (Tonnie) of Augusta, Ga., and Markye Witcher; a sister, Estella Gilbert of Hurt, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Laverne Crawley, Maurice Hunt, and Catrice Witcher for being excellent caretakers for their grandmother.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Tharp Funeral home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
Services will be held at Peaceful Baptist Church, 2009 Park Avenue, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 12:00 noon with Pastor Baby Stokes officiating.
