Elwood Rudolph Garner, Sr.

Elwood Rudolph Garner, Sr. 87, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022, at his residence. He was born on December 17, 1934, in North Carolina to the late James Roosevelt Garner and Agusta Smith Squires Garner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell D. Garner and daughter, Joyce A. Windsor.
Elwood worked for many years as a carpenter. He had many hobbies, but loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Kay Willett of Reidsville, NC, Elwood, Jr. and wife, Susie Garner of Lexington Park, MD, Mickey and his wife, Linda Garner of Lexington Park, MD Tina and husband, Tony Francisco of Bedford, VA, Lynn Garner and wife, Fran of Mech, MD and Randy Garner of Bedford, VA; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren, he was also expecting two more great great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Philip Biles officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the Francisco/ Garner Family cemetery.
