Emily Atkinson Quarles

Emily Atkinson Quarles, 15, went to be with her Lord along with her mother, Karen Elizabeth Canard Quarles and father, Jonathan Lee Quarles on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

Emily was born October 12, 1994 in Lynchburg.

Emily is survived by two brothers:  Matthew D. Pritchard and girlfriend Carrington Watkins of Appomattox, Derrick C. Quarles and his daughter, Ella Korinne Quarles of Lynchburg, one sister:  Meghan E. Pritchard and fiancé, Austin Durrett; her grandparents:  Carol M. Canard of Lynchburg, Donna Beavers and her husband, Shirley of Hilton Head, SC, Dorothy Quarles and her husband, Buford of Forest.  She was fond of her special uncles:  Jeff Quarles and his wife, Susan and their children, Colin and Evan Quarles of Amherst; Steve Canard and his sons, Tyler, Thomas and Alex of Lynchburg.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas Clark Canard.

In addition to her parents, Emily passed with her two special friends, Ronald \"Bo\" Scruggs and Morgan Dobyns.

She was a 9th grade student at Appomattox High School, a very Christian young lady, and fun loving friend and had a good sense of humor and a bright smile.  She most enjoyed being 15 and the baby in the family.

A Celebration of Life for Emily will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Heritage Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 \"" 6:00 pm on Monday, January 25, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg and on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 following the Celebration of Life Service at Heritage Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Canard, Pritchard, and Quarles Family Memorial Fund.  Checks should be made out to Tharp Funeral Home and mailed to PO Box 15008, Lynchburg, VA 24502.  Funds will be earmarked for designated charities by the family at a later date.
