Emily Joyce Seacrist

Emily Joyce Seacrist, 87, of Madison Heights, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2018 with her loved ones by her side after a courageous fight with breast cancer.
Joyce was born February 4, 1931 in Lynchburg, Va. Saturday night she was reunited with her parents, Oscar and Maggie Wood; her husband, Bert Seacrist, Sr.; a daughter, Deanna Smith; her son, Bert Seacrist, Jr.; a grandson, Rusty Smith; and her three sisters, Ruby Washington, Madeline Bersch, and Connie Silby.
Joyce leaves behind two daughters, Pat Woods and Vickie Seacrist; a daughter-in-law, Linda Seacrist; a brother, Bo Wood; nine grandchildren: Hope Hughes, Michael and Crist Woods, Emily Kesler, Romona Smith, Teresa Maynard, Tina Kress, Donna Lanier, and Keith Seacrist; 16 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Ashby Tyree.
A family visitation will be held today, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
