Emmett Booth Holdren

March 21, 1952 — February 28, 2022

Emmett Booth Holdren, 69, of Forest, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 after a debilitating illness. He was born on March 21, 1952, in Bedford, VA. A son of the late, William Henry Holdren and Katherine Rebecca Booth Holdren. Emmett was a devoted member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Thaxton where he was involved with visiting shut ins after church, served as treasurer and was also a previous youth leader. He retired from English Construction as a Professional Engineer and Project Manager and held many roles throughout his career. Emmett was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was an avid Virginia Tech Hokies fan who held season tickets and was a member of the Hokies Club. His love and devotion to his wife and family was so pure, especially that of his granddaughter Cora and special great nieces, Halla, Isabella and Nevaeh, and time spent with each of them. He often could be found donating his time to friends and family or volunteering with the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, being a greeter at Lynchburg General Hospital, going to ballgames with family or friends and riding around in his Nissan 300Z which he adored. He enjoyed a variety of music especially Rock & Roll from the 60’s and 70’s and going to concerts. He was loved by so many and will be missed dearly in the days ahead.

Emmett is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 31 years, Sharon Holdren; son, Jason Holdren; granddaughter, Cora Lyn; brother, Arvid Holdren and wife, Judy; sister-in-law, Wanda Bond and husband, James; brothers-in-law, Joe D. Campbell and wife, Peggy and Donald Campbell; nieces, Teresa, April, Maranda, Kaley, Jessica, Rebecca and Relene; nephews, Joshua, Jonah and Jeremiah; Aunt, Marie Boruff; sister from another mother (Cousin) Bubba; and special friend, Blake Isley. Also, so many friends and extended family.

A service for family and close friends will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford Chapel.
