Erma Cecile Bryan Ramsey
Erma Cecile Bryan Ramsey, 94, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
A daughter of the late Cecil Bryan and Georgie Page Bryan she was born on April 7, 1919 in Big Island, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Donald Ramsey; two children, Jeanne Duff and Cecil Ramsey; a great-grandchild, Aaron Padgett; siblings, Gordon Bryan and Edna Wright and a special friend and confidant, Jack deVall.
Erma is survived by her daughters, Betty Padgett Jenkins of Bedford and Nancy Terry (Bobby) of Alpharetta, GA; grandsons, Bryan Terry of Johns Creek, GA and Brent Padgett of Bedford; great-grandsons, Trey and Jordon Padgett of Bedford and son-in-law Richard Duff of Big Island.
She was retired from General Electric Co. after enjoying many years of faithful service. Erma was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and was also a member of the former Board of Regents of Liberty University.
At her request there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held at the Big Island Cemetery on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Charles Billingsley officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to The National D-Day Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, VA 24523.
The family extends deep appreciation to the staff of Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care and loving friendship shown during her stay.
