Ernest L. Lynn

d. January 10, 2020

Ernest L. Lynn passed from this life into Heaven to be forever with his Lord and Savior on January 10, 2020

He was born in 1940 in PA to Walter and Pearl Lynn and was fondly known as Ernie.  He graduated from Warrior Run High School in 1959 and immediately enlisted in the Navy for 4 years.  Upon returning to civilian life, he married Bonnie Gray and was about to celebrate 56 years of marriage this coming June.

In 1972 his second birth happened and he started spreading the Good News right away.  He has served his Savior well as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, mentor, helper, encourager and missionary.

In 1978 he moved his family to Lynchburg to attend Liberty where he received his Bachelor’s Degree.  He and his family moved to Covington in 1989.  While living there he finished his Master’s Degree from Liberty.  In 1997 he and his family moved back to Lynchburg where he attended Heritage Baptist Church and served there until he passed.  He was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 which says in part “be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ Jesus.”

He loved life, especially when he could be with his grandchildren whom he loved so much and had such happy times with.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie and their 5 children:  Michael (Mihaela) and their two children Ben and Addy (Lynchburg);  Matthew (Lynchburg);  Betsy Lynn Reaves (Alan) and their four children Tyler, Seth (Kali and son Stetson), Joseph, and Georgianna (Atlanta and Statesboro, GA); Tim (Lynchburg)  and his son Tyler (North Salt Lake, Utah); Todd (Marcie)

and their two children Ellie and Lucas (Salem, VA) along with brother Lester (Carol) PA; brother Kenneth (PA);sister Leota Sheets (PA); sister-in law Paula Johnson (Jim) and their children (PA)(LA) along with many cousins, nieces/nephews, etc.  He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Pearl Lynn, mother-in-law Violet Swope, sister-in-law Phyllis Lynn and a brother-in-law Dale Sheets.

A memorial service for Ernest will be held February 16, 2020 at Heritage Baptist Church, Lynchburg, VA with a family visitation from 2 to 2:45 pm and celebration service at 3 pm.
