Ernestine Southard Moore, age 79, of Lynchburg, Va. died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Centra Health Hospice House. Born Thursday, May 13, 1937 in Wadesboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Southard and Ruth Karnes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Walter “Nick” Moore, Jr.; three brothers, and a sister. Ernestine leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Vickie Knoll (Tim), Kelly Morris (John), Kaye Giles (Don); seven grandchildren, Melissa Cline, Stephen Knoll, Stephanie Maiewski, Erica Ford, Jessica Raynor, Carrie Tyler, and Pamela Knowles; twelve great-grandchildren, Alex, Sarah, Ashlynn, Scott, Samantha, Caitlee, Victoria, Andy, Renea, Roman, Dean, Hope, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Ernestine retired from Ross Laboratories. She greatly enjoyed helping others at the Lynchburg General Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered for over seventeen years. During her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. A visitation will take place Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Centra Hospice.
