Estelle Eva Hill Austin
Estelle Eva Hill Austin, 91, of Lynchburg, died Friday, March 26, 2010. She was the wife of the late Cecil Eugene Austin, Sr.
Mrs. Austin was born on August 31, 1918 in Lynchburg, VA, a daughter of the late James Hill and Vermont Burge Hill. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church where she had been the devoted director of the church nursery for 20 years.
She is survived by four sons, Cecil E. \"Buster\" Austin, Jr. and wife Joanne of Lynchburg, Thomas E. Austin and wife Carolyn of Chesterfield, Donald L. Austin and wife Barbara of Concord, and Jerry E. Austin and wife Carolyn of Goode; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; one brother: Walker Eugene Hill of Lynchburg; three sisters: Lois Kershaw of Lynchburg, Alice Kirby, of Arlington, and Margaret Almond of Lynchburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Walter Glenn Austin; three brothers, Robert Lewis Hill, James Edward \"Bo\" Hill and Floyd Franklin Hill and one sister, Thelma Hill Barricklow.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Fund C/O Fairview Christian Church, 2701 Campbell Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
