Estelle "Stella" Ferguson Smith

Estelle “Stella” Ferguson Smith, 95, of Lynchburg died Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Dan” Daniel Smith, parents Wiley Franklin Ferguson and Nora Rice Ferguson, sisters, Edna F. Sherman, Louise F. Carr and brother, Melvin O. Feguson.

She is survived by her two sons: Michael Stephen Smith and spouse Robert Michael Sims of Stone Mountain, GA and Phillip Jason Smith and wife Marlene of Marysville, WA; two grandchildren: Phillip Jason Smith, II (Serena) and Shannon Elizabeth Smith-Moore, (Zeb), great-grandchildren, Jasmine Rae Smith, Phillip Jason Smith III, and Noella Elizabeth Smith.  

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, VA.

A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. today, Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Tharp, Lynchburg, VA.  Interment will Tuesday at 10 a.m., October 10, 2023, at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society, 1211 Old Graves Mill Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24502.
