Esther Hodges Gordon, 67, of Evington, died Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was the wife of Richard Lee Gordon for 51 years.
Esther was born December 23, 1949 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Joseph Edward Hodges and Gertrude Hodges Mullins.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three daughters: Virginia Crouch of Evington, Lisa Keesee (Chris) of Rustburg, and Kimberly Lewis (Shon) of Evington; eleven grandchildren: Zach (Renassa), Dakota, Stephanie (Jake), Paul, Curtis (Samantha), Bailey, Dylan, Vanessa, Hannah, Makenzie, and Kooper; five great-grandchildren: Dixianna, Tucker, Ashton, Cameron, and Caleb; one sister, Judy Meador; five brothers: Calvin, John, Dennis, Kenneth, and Russell Hodges.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and James Hodges and one infant son. The family would like to give a special thank you to her special friends Marie Baisden and Gwen Mosebrook.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and all other times at her residence.
A Celebration of Esther’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with the Rev. Kenneth Lafon officiating.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
