Eula May Driskill, 93, of Rustburg, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Odd Fellows Home. She was born on October 24, 1920 in Gladys, Va. to the late Wesley C. “T” and the late Eula Carwile Driskill.
May is survived by one sister, Louise D. Williams, three brothers, Ed (Janice), Ben (Sarah), Wayne (Carol) Driskill, one brother-in-law, Robert E. Maxey Sr., and a special double first cousin, Irene Carmichael who she thought of and loved as a sister. Also surviving are 20 nieces and nephews and a numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Barbara Ann Driskill, Nellie D. Maxey, Dorothy D. Davis, Mildred D. Pack, a baby brother, and three brothers-in-law: Jack Williams Wayland Davis and H.E. Pack.
May was a Mother-Grandmother figure to many of her nieces, nephews, children at Miller Home and children in the neighborhood. She worked at Miller Home for Girls and retired from the Odd Fellows Home. She was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, and served as Communion Stewart for over 40 years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at New Bethel United Methodist church with Pastor Roger Powell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
