Eva May Stinnett Mawyer died on January 25, 2021. Born on May 22, 1945, in Norfolk Va, She was the wife of the late Calvin “Big Daddy” Mawyer Sr. for 45 years.
She was the daughter of the late Walter H. Stinnett and late Virginia C. Stinnett. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Butch, Pee-Wee, and Thomas Stinnett.
Eva was devoted to her family. When family members had children, they did not go to a sitter, they went to Eva’s. The children called her “Big Mama”. She loved to spend time with family at family gatherings.
She is survived by her children Calvin Mawyer, Jr., of Lynchburg, Christina Mawyer, of Lynchburg, and Cathy Witcher (Doug), of Moneta; a grandson, Christopher Ellis (Tia); two great-grandchildren, Ava Ellis and Chris Ellis Jr. all of Lynchburg; great niece, Amy Branham Tyree (Brad) of Madison Heights; and a great nephew, Bradley Branham of Greensboro, N.C.. She is also survived by three sisters, Sue Dobyns (Ray) of Lynchburg, Martha Gillispie of Madison Heights and Maude Campbell of Spout Spring; and a brother Robert Stinnett (Mary) of Rustburg and a host of other family members.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Lynchburg with the Reverend Sam Stump officiating.
