Dorothy Eva Phillips Case-Smith, 84, of Bedford, passed away on, Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Born in Rutherfordton, NC on August 20, 1929; a daughter of the late, Thomas Romeo Phillips and Annie W. Phillips. In addition to her parents Eva was preceded in death by her son, Michael Phillip Case; five brothers, Leroy Phillips, Broadus Phillips and wife, Frances, Horace Phillips, Kenneth Phillips and Hugh Phillips; three sisters, Wavolyn P. Bartles, and husband, Walter, Juanita P. Robertson, and husband, George, Hazel P. Miller and husband, Wilbur.

Eva was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. She loved golfing, reading, dedicating time within her church, spending time with the Bedford Breakfast Lions Club and being part of the AT&T Pioneers Club.

Eva is survived by her loving husband, Francis Allen \"Smitty\" Smith U.S.A. (Ret); her son, Winford M. \"Chip\" Case, Jr. and his wife, Kim; two grandchildren, Laura Ashley Benson and husband, Justin and Allen Michael Case and his longtime girlfriend, T.J.; three great-grandchildren, Garrett Ennis, Nicole Ennis and Natalie Palmer; two brothers, Will Phillips and wife, Charlotte, Robert \"Bob\" Phillips and wife, Sasa; sisters-in-law, Regina, Jean and Frances Phillips; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A celebration of Eva\"™s Life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, with Pastor Carey Snellings officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm also at the funeral home. Her burial will take place on Monday, December 23, 2013 in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Rutherfordton, NC at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 320 N.
