Evangelyn Gordon Tenney

Evangelyn “Lyn” Tenney, 89 of Forest, VA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie D, Tenney Jr. and a son- in-law, Oral Mizelle.

She is survived by a son Leslie D. (‘Tyke”) lll and wife Cindy of Garner, NC, a son Richard T and wife Bobbie of Tallahassee, FL and a daughter Laurie Mizelle of Reston, VA, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

Lyn earned a B.S. degree from Houghton University and a MS degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Lyn was a longtime resident and teacher in Derby, CT. She resided in Forest, VA where she served in the Faith Alliance Church. Lyn was an avid UCONN woman’s basketball fan and enjoyed playing games and spending time with her family, especially at Virginia Beach. She was employed for over 30 years by the Derby school system as a classroom teacher.

 A celebration of life will be held at the Faith Alliance Church on Saturday, July 20, at 12:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Faith Alliance Church, 7808 Timberlake Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502.
