Evans Caskie Ross, 77, died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 13, 2018.  He was born on June 27, 1941 in Roanoke to the late William Tyler Ross and the late Gay Caskie Ross.

Evans was the beloved husband of Lucy Guggenheimer Ross for almost 49 years.  He is survived by his son, Michael Caskie Ross and his daughter, Katharine Ross Agostino (Val).  Evans was the most loving and fun grandfather to his three grandchildren, Caleb, Caskie and Piper Agostino. Also surviving him are his brothers William T. Ross(Phyllis) and Jackson H. Ross (Sara) and sister Nancy Ross Atkinson (Gus Neville).  He was predeceased by a sister Martha Virginia Ross.

Evans graduated from Hampden Sydney College in 1963 and moved to Lynchburg the same year. He began his career in business at Caskie Paper Company and later started his own small construction company, E.C. Ross Construction. Evans loved the outdoors, particularly fishing with his good friends. He is legendary for his kindness.

Evans was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and participated in a mission trip to New Orleans after Katrina. He served on the board of Rebuilding Together and was active in the Lynchburg chapters of Rebuilding Together and Habitat for Humanity. He also volunteered at The Gateway for several years.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Friday August 17th, 2018 at 11 AM.  The family will receive friends at a reception in the parish hall following the service.
