Evelyn Collins Sexton

Evelyn Mae Collins Sexton, 81, of Bedford passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at her residence. She was born on March 4, 1936 in Coleman Falls, VA. A daughter of the late William Lester Collins and Lessie Mae McFadden Collins.

 

Evelyn was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and going for rides through the country and mountains. She was also an avid reader.

 

She is survived by her loving husband, Billy J. Sexton; four children, Michael Burnette and wife, Sylvia, Steve Burnette and wife, Teresa, Deborah Gunter and husband, Greg and Sharon Burnette and husband, Chris; Two step-sons, David Sexton and wife, Pauline and George Sexton; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Collins and Fred Collins; one sister, Joyce Collins Dickens and husband, Joe also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service and celebration of Evelyn’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Heerspink officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford.
