Evelyn Neblett

April 30, 1947 — May 28, 2022

Evelyn Neblett, 75, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2022, after a valiant two-year battle with cancer.

Born April 30, 1947, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Pearl Hildebrand Nolte and Eugene Victor Nolte, she was married to Ronald William Neblett on May 29, 1971. She was blessed with three wonderful children, Ronald Victor Neblett, Tracy Kyper, and Kimberley Hovda, and three precious grandchildren, Cole Hovda, Corinne Hovda, and William Neblett. Evelyn savored her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother (GiGi), and everyday with her family was a source of pure joy.

Evelyn is also survived by her two sons-in-law, Jason Hovda and Donald Kyper, her daughter-in-law, Michelle Neblett, and many other family members and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Marie Nolte and Vickie Cummings, and her brother, Raymond Nolte.

At the time of her death, Evelyn had been a member of Gospel Community Church for five years. She attended Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church for over forty years before it was merged into Gospel Community Church. She had a longing to help others and truly enjoyed preparing Wednesday night supper at the church, and distributing food to the needy at the Connecting Point on Saturday mornings.

Evelyn loved to travel with her husband, Ronald, and every January or February they went to Hawaii and Las Vegas. Every April and October it was a trip to Kentucky for the horse races. They also enjoyed numerous cruises to the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. Ronald and Evelyn were blessed with the world’s greatest marriage which lasted 51 years.

A viewing will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Gospel Community Church on Thursday, June 2, 2022, with burial to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
