Evelyn Alice Raymond Mavilia, 82, of Forest, VA died on Wednesday June 27, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Frank Mavilia for 52 loving years. She was deeply admired and loved by her entire family.
Evelyn was born January 23, 1930 in Boston Massachusetts: the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and the late Theresa Kelly Raymond. She was a founding member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Evelyn enjoyed needlework, crocheting, and was a collector of fine antiques. Her greatest passion, however, was her family. She loved life and adored her grandchildren. Evelyn\"™s unique sense of humor and her contagious laugh will be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her two sons; Steven Mavilia of Lynchburg, and Mark Mavilia and his wife Vanessa of Richmond, two daughters; Lia Gammon and her husband Lee of Midlothian, and Paula Maggi and her husband Roger of Wexford, PA, 11 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
