Everette “Wayne” Hale, 88, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on October 20, 2022. He was the son of the late Fielden Levi Hale and Ruth Reedy Hale, and the husband of Lula Ann Crance Hale for 66 years.
Wayne was born on June 2, 1934, in Bluff City, TN. He attended school at Concord High School, served in the U.S. Army, and then pursued his career as a commercial truck driver for Falwell Fast Freight and Central Virginia Trucking, later becoming an independent truck driver. One of his greatest accomplishments was driving 8 million miles accident free.
Wayne attended Calvary Baptist Church in Concord, VA and Thomas Terrace Baptist Church in Concord, VA. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially Nascar and the Washington Redskins.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his children: Gary “Tyke” Hale (Phyllis) and Joni Hale Pauley; his grandchildren: Stephanie Ward, Shannon Stratton (Christian), and Kelly Martell (Ryan); his great-grandchildren: Chyna Ward, Liam Stratton, Jace Stratton, and Owen Martell; his great-great-grandchild: Harmoni Tanner; his sister: Nancy Gray; his sister-in-law Edna Hale; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is predeceased by his brother, Carl Hale and his brother-in-law, Reginald Gray.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.
