Faye Williams Bryant, 78, of Rustburg, was called to join her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 16, 2017. She was the wife of the late Howard Lee Bryant for 54 years, who preceded her in death.

Born Friday, May 19, 1939 in Chase City, Va., she was a daughter of the late Clarence W. Williams and the late Vola Icefean Ogle Williams of Paris, Tenn. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David Wayne Bryant.

Faye was multi-talented; she was a writer for two newspapers: the Appomattox Times Virginian and Rustburg Ledger. She was also a published poet, a writer and director of Christmas plays at church. She was a past secretary, treasurer and president of Women’s Circles at church. Faye taught in Bible School, was a Girl Scout Leader, photographer of weddings, and a painter. She loved to travel, help people fight injustice, and believed strongly in James 2: 14-17. Faye loved her family and was a very giving person. She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church and a former member of Eastbrook and Gospel Baptist Churches.

Mrs. Bryant leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Barbara Faye Bryant of Lynchburg, and Laura Billiter Goad of Concord; four grandchildren, Adam Bryant Roberts, Joseph W. Bryant, Lauren B. Hansen, and Emily F. Billiter; six great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jayden, Gabriel, Hunter Hansen, Noah W. and Dylan E. Bryant; two sisters, Arleen Hart (Steve) of Paris, Tenn., and Lela Conger (Sam) of Henry, Tenn.; four brothers, Clarence Williams, Jr. (Christine) of Oklahoma City, Okla., Alfris Williams, Henry, Tenn., Harvey L. Williams (Marie) of Mineral, Va., and Bill E. Williams of Kotzebue, AK., plus a host of family friends, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

A Celebration of Faye’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Clearview Baptist Church, Rustburg, with the Rev. Earl Clarkson officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
