Ferrelle Wayne “Pete” Doss, of Evington, Virginia, passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 99. Born on May 17, 1924, in Appomattox, VA.
Pete proudly served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Denver. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and enjoyed a 65-year marriage with Lorene Miles Doss. He spent the majority of his career as a construction machine operator. Pete was an outdoor enthusiast, with a passion for gardening, yard work, fishing, and hunting. His faith in Jesus Christ played a central role in his life. As a dedicated member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, he served as an usher and deacon, and was devoted to daily scripture reading and prayer.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Pete is survived by his children, Susan Marston and Tom Doss (Joyce); grandchildren, Amy Feigel (Kurt), Jonathan Doss (Lexi), and Phillip Doss; and great-grandchildren, Chase Feigel and Cameron Feigel. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Harriet Doss, eleven siblings, his wife Lorene Doss, and son-in-law, David Marston.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pate Chapel, Thomas Road Baptist Church, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
