Fletcher Bell Burks, Jr.

Fletcher Bell Burks, Jr., 65, of Big Island, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 23, 2012. Born October 25, 1946 in Lexington, VA; he was a son of the late Fletcher Bell Burks, Sr. and Mary Helen Bulis Burks.

Fletcher was 23 year veteran of the United States Navy where he served as Chief Boiler Technician. He was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church.

Fletcher leaves behind is wife of 27 years, JoAnn Gross Burks; son, Fletcher Bell Burks, III; daughter, Christi Chewning Branch and husband, Frank; grandchildren, Jarrett Branch, Dylan Burks, Zeanna Burks; brother, John Richard Burks and wife, Teresa; and sister, Carolyn Morehead and husband, Don.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM, Monday, August 27, 2012, at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Carey C. Snellings officiating. Interment will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
