Florence Mae Duff Dawson, 92, of Lynchburg, VA, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012. She was the wife of the late Norman Dawson.
Florence was born Friday, May 28, 1920 in Lynchburg, VA, a daughter of the late John Wesley Duff and Ora Rucker Duff. She was retired from General Electric and was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Patricia Harvey of Lynchburg, VA, three sons: Wesley Dawson and his wife, Sharron, of Charlotte, NC, Don Dawson and his wife, Judith, of Lynchburg, and Randall Dawson and his wife, Debbie, of Midlothian, VA; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Powell, of Lynchburg, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins.
In addition to her husband, and parents, Florence was preceded in death by her brothers: Frank Duff and his wife, Laura, Eugene Duff and his wife, Bea, and Earnest Duff and his wife, Anita.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Florence's life will be conducted at 1 P.M. on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
