Flossie Williams

Flossie Morrison Williams, 89, of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by her family. 

Born August 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Claude B. Morrison and Erma H. Morrison. She was the wife of the late Clyde T. Williams. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Everett \"Sam\" Morrison and Preston \"Dick\" Morrison.

Mrs. Williams was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was devoted to her family. 

Known also as \"Big Grannie\" and Grandma Williams, she enjoyed playing the piano and singing with her family. She was, for many years, a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13. She took great pleasure in cooking for her family and many friends, always serving her unique recipes. In addition, she was an avid gardener and outstanding seamstress. 

Mrs. Williams was well-loved and touched many lives. She loved her family and making others happy, always an inspiration to all who knew her. 

Mrs. Williams will always be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, beautiful sweet smile, and independent nature. 

She is survived by her children: Norris W. Williams and Dianne of Evington; Janice Childress; Sandra Duff and Herbert; Dianne Tsamisis and John, all of Lynchburg; Barbara Leonard and Elroy of Rustburg; grandchildren, Barry Childress and Gayle of Mariotta, GA; Terry Childress and Patricia; Mischele Routh and Joe; Wayne Duff and Kelle; Kim English and Chad; Aristotle (Gary) Tsamisis; Tricia Lynn Scott; Chris Tsamisis of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren Ashley Blevins, Kyle, Tyler, Trevor; Amber Childress; Alexa Tsamisis, Landon, Logan, Lane Duff, Collyn, Ella Grace, Bailey Ann English, Mark Casey, and Jossalyn Taylor Scott. 

She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Phyllis Morrison, niece Vanessa Morrison, and nephew Eddie Preston Morrison. 

A celebration of Mrs. Williams\"™ life will be conducted at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg today, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Special thanks to Cardiac ICU Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital.
