Frances Carolyn Blankenship, 71, of Lynchburg, died Friday, May 16, 2014.
Born Friday, July 17, 1942 in Lynchburg, Frances was a daughter of the late Arthur Wright and the late Hilda Stewart Wright Southworth.
Frances is survived by her children: Deanna Carol Blankenship, of High Point, NC, Michelle Skinner and her husband, John, of Lynchburg, and Scott Winston Blankenship and his wife, Jennifer, of Glen Allen, VA, a brother, Thomas Wright and his wife, Joyce, of Seguin, TX, sisters: Betty W. Smith of Lynchburg, and Brenda H. Ferrell and her husband, Jimmy, of Newport News, VA, three grandchildren: Tyler Skinner and his wife, Victoria, and Madeline and Sam Blankenship; and her former husband, Barry W. Blankenship, of Prince George VA.
Frances retired from Consolidated Shoe Company. A former Girl Scout, she was proud to have risen to become a Troop Leader and then Service Unit leader for the Lynchburg region. She was very involved in her children’s activities and was a loving mother and grandmother. Frances’ love of the Outer Banks and riding waves has been inherited by her children.
A Celebration of Frances’s Life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 18th, 2014,at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with Chaplain Wayne Lanhamofficiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service.
