Frances Gaddy Lukens, 92, of Lynchburg, Virginia died on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, in Lynchburg.
Born December 12, 1921 in Bedford County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Gaddy and the late Alice Brewer Gaddy. She was the wife of the late Walter Viar, and the late William P. Lukens.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Frances is survived by her sons, Donald Huffman of Florence, SC and David Viar of Great Falls, VA.; a daughter, Leah Viar of Richmond, VA.; a stepson David Lukens of Santa Clara, CA; a stepdaughter Cynthia Schoen of Placitas, NM; a daughter, Vivian Hudson of Lynchburg, and a sister Ruth McCoy of Monroe, NC. In addition she is survived by many beloved grandchildren including Donnie Huffman, Patricia Fox, Connie Welch, Evan Coussoulos, Taeja Huffman, Andrew Schoen, Anna Schoen, Sophie Viar, Molly Viar, Dino Lirio, Roy Lirio, Froilan Lirio and Clarissa Lirio – several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her dear friends, Billy Richardson, Jennifer Davis, and the Friday Ladies.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Alice Coussoulos; her son, Kenneth Huffman; brothers, Ernest Gaddy, Joseph Gaddy, Edmund Gaddy and John Gaddy, and a sister, Mary Herron.
Frances lived a long and generous life, creating a community of family and friends. She was strong and supportive, a matriarch and a lady. We will miss her humorous stories, the delicious meals she prepared, and the celebrations shared in her home.

A memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Roberts officiating.
