Frances Hogan Dresser, 100, of Lynchburg died Monday April 6, 2015. Twice widowed, she was the wife of the late Elwood M. Scott and the late Ralph E. Dresser.
Frances was born December 29, 1914 in Buena Vista a daughter of the late Lawrence F. Hogan and the late Iola Crawford Hogan. Frances had a distinguished career in the airline industry and retired from Piedmont Airlines where she was the first woman hired in the Lynchburg area. Through her career she developed a love of travel, which was passed down to her grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. Frances was a well-rounded southern lady, whose talents included; cooking, sewing, and gardening: all of what she did impeccably dressed and with great style. She was a devoted member of First Church of Christ Scientist in Lynchburg.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Goff of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Vicki G. Dodson and her husband Donnie of Richmond, and Charles D. Goff and his wife Lia of Goochland; four great-grandchildren, Will and Scotti Dodson and Madison and Kyle Goff; and a half-brother, Franklin Hogan of Buena Vista.
In addition to her two husbands and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Charles L. Scott; and a son-in-law, H. Paul Goff.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday April 13, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Monday April 13, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society, 1211 Old Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502 or to a charity of your choice.
