Frances Irene \"Rene\" Cundiff Burton, 90, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, February 7, 2010. She was the wife of the late John William Burton.
Mrs. Burton was born, December 27, 1919 in Huddleston, VA, a daughter of the late Willie S. Cundiff and Mary Antholine Blount Cundiff. Rene was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother providing them a loving home. She was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church and a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Naruna.
She is survived by two sons: J. W. Burton and his wife, Elaine of Altavista and Douglas Wayne Burton and his wife, Marie of Gladys; her grandchildren: Christie Burton, Michelle Dixon, Lance Burton and John Wayne Burton; her great grandchildren: L. B., Chantz, Kassie Burton, Tyler and Zachary Dixon; and two sisters: Julia Garbee of Rustburg and Ruby Elliott of Madison Heights.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 \"" 8:30 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Naruna with Rev. Carl Weiser and Rev. Johnny Roberts officiating.
