Frances Joyce Hargis Jones, 92, went to be with Jesus on February 23, 2019. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on February 15, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Floyd B. Hargis and Mary Gertrude Hodnett Hargis Franklin. She was a charter member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. She retired from Babcock and Wilcox.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, 67 years, James R. Jones, and all three of her siblings, Glenwood M. Hargis and his wife, Edna, Lorine and Archie Kidd, and her youngest brother, James E. Hargis
She is survived by two sons, Gary L. Jones and wife, Beverly, of Lynchburg, and Phillip T. Jones and wife, Betty, of Lynchburg, her most precious granddaughter, Kayla Lynn Jones Schull and her husband, Petty Officer Jeremy Schull, and their children, Aesa and Peyton Schull, two grandsons, Jason D. Jones his late wife, Beth, their children, Landon and Hailey, Jody M. Jones and his wife, Christy, and their children, Cameron and Parker Jones, four step-grandchildren, Jamie, Becky, Chip, and Tanya, , nine step-great grandchildren, one special niece Sandra Coffey who was her friend and prayer partner, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Frances’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 28, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel Lynchburg, with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Frances had two very special women, Linda and Rebecca, who cared for her selflessly, for which the family is incredibly grateful.
