Frances Taylor Martin died Tuesday, July 12, 2011. She was born in 1919, the daughter of the late Izma and Clarence Taylor. She was the wife of the late Robert Duval Martin.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia Townsend and husband William and Carolyn Beckham and husband Randy; granddaughter Amy Jones, her husband Steve and their children Taylor and Tristen and granddaughter Sara Beckham-Henry, her husband Mike, and their children Lorelei, Fiona and Finnegan. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Peggy Hobbs and Millie Taylor, nieces and nephews; close family friend Katherine A. Gegner.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Jack Lewis Taylor.
She was a member of St. John\"™s Episcopal Church. She was a graduate of E. C. Glass High School, of Randolph Macon Woman\"™s College, belonged to Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Colonial Dames, The Lynchburg Art Club, and served as a Docent at Randolph Macon\"™s Maier Museum for 18 years.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2011 in the chapel at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg with Rev. William J. Watson, III officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
