Francis Thayer Lentz, 92 of Moneta, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 25, 2020. Francis was the loving husband of Helen Marie Lentz.
Born Friday, March 16, 1928 in Buckstown, PA, he was a son of the late Francis Edward Lentz and the late Ada Lohr Lentz. He was also predeceased by a brother, Russell Lentz and a sister, Loretta Fuller.
In addition to his wife, surviving are son, Francis Derek Lentz; daughter, Leslie Lentz Caldwell; daughter-in-law, Lucy Lentz; son-in-law, C. Stan Caldwell; grandchildren, JoJo Lentz, Lurek Evans, Christina Lentz, Nicole Driscoll, Jason Caldwell; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Annie Campbell; many nieces and nephews.
Francis was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and was a WWII Veteran. He helped many fellow veterans and their families during his time with VFW, Post 8163. After his honorable discharge from the army, Francis became district sales manager at McCreary Tire and Rubber Co., as well as Harris Tire Co. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Memorial Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 29 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Rogers officiating.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, is assisting the family.
