"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15. Francisca Paiva passed into the arms of Jesus on January 2, 2024, in Lynchburg, VA. She was one month away from her 82nd birthday.
Francisca married the love of her life, Jose Paiva. They were married for 52 years. Francisca was devoted to her husband and family.
Francisca confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while a teenager. Her daily morning devotions were non-negotiable in reading her Bible and singing several hymns. She was known for being a prayer warrior. Her family remembers her singing hymns every morning during her devotions and continuing her singing throughout the day as she worked on her chores. She was an active member of her church in Brazil where she served in various ministries. She sang in the choir, directed prayer meetings, and visited the sick and house bound.
Francisca was known for her delicious homemade food. She could make anything taste amazing from homemade gnocchi to venison roast. She was also known for dispensing homemade remedies to her children and teaching their recipe to anyone interested. She was a quiet lady but was known for being direct. She had a gentle spirit which attracted people to her.
Francisca was predeceased by her husband, Jose; her parents, Oliveira and Lourdes; and her brothers, Oliveira (Carmelia), Joao (Suelda), Airton (Celia), Roldao (Isolda), and Olivio (Wanda).
Francisca is survived by her five children, Rosalva (Douglas) of Maryland, Rosaly (Elliot) of Virginia, Rossiny (Alessandra) of Florida, Robson (Tatiana) of Ontario, Roberto (Evana) of Sao Paulo; and by her 12 grandchildren: Stephanie, Victoria (James), Christianne (Daniel), Jonathan, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Caio, Aimee, Julia, Ben, Caleb, and Valentina; and by a soon-to-be-born great-grandchild. Also surviving, are Francisca’s siblings, Edmilson, Maria, Fernanda, Tamar, Ruth, Sarah, and Noeme; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, 220 Breezewood Dr., Lynchburg, VA 24502, with Dr. Elias Moitinho officiating. Interment will follow at Tree of Life Cemetery in Altavista, VA.
