On Saturday Evening, October 24, 2020, God called our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Brother Frank Austin Jefferson Darby. Brother Frank, His Loyal Servant, enthusiastically answered His Call.
Frank was born on, June 1, 1940, in Bedford County, Virginia; a son of the late Deacon John Darby, Sr. and Sister Naomi Jefferson Darby. Frank has lived in Bedford County the tenure of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Mable, Julie and Winnie.
As a young child, Frank grew up in an era when prayer,
faith and church was a vital part of his home. During his formative years, Frank’s life was enhanced by his love and appreciation of his family He attended Bedford County Schools where he created many lifetime friendships. Frank’s ties to Mount Olive Holiness Church and relationship with his Lord and Savior, made for a full circle life. Frank enjoyed working on the farm with his father and brothers. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening and shared his bountiful harvest with others.
God blessed Frank to be a compassionate man with a warm personality and sense of humor. He was a diligent worker and a blessed musician who became proficient in playing the guitar and harmonica. Frank continued to enjoy the farm, but also worked in the Public Sector. After God called his youngest brother, Golden into the ministry, He became the Minister of Music at New Life Gospel Assembly. No program at his church and any other church was over until someone shouted, “Brother Frank play us a tune on your harmonica.” Oh the joy of foot stomping, hand clapping and a big smile; which conveyed just how much he loves the Lord and each one of us. This is how we all should remember Brother Frank!
Frank leaves to celebrate his life: a son, Anthony Darby (Francine); a daughter, Deborah Darby Mott; 6 grandchildren; Shaina, Kiana, Gabrielle, Demetrius, Katrina and Jannie; 9 great grandchildren, DeKeim, Chiqwira, D’Adonai, D’Myricle, Devine, Daneyah, DeAndre, Neriah, and Ezekiel; 2 great great grandchildren, Zaniyah and Micah; 3 brothers, Dave Matthews, John Darby, Jr. (Ruth) and Pastor Golden Darby (Rose); 4 sisters; Corlia Darby Green, Harriet Darby Beckwith, Katie Darby McDaniel and Lettie Darby Mosley (Russell); his aunt Virginia Jefferson, 108 years young; a god daughter, Dr. Tara Phelps Jones; devoted cousins, Jesse and Marion Phelps; an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and his church family at New Life Gospel Assembly.
