Frank Gary Sims

Frank Gary Sims, 54, of Goode, went to his Heavenly Home on June 5, 2015. He was born on July 26, 1960 in Bedford, VA, a son of the late William Alex Sims and the late Janie Harrison Sims. In addition to his parents, his is preceded in death by two brothers: William “Billy” Sims II and James “Jimmy” Sims. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, his best friend and love of his life, Pamela Dudley Sims and their daughter, Jennifer Sims Gardner, and husband Brice and son, Daniel Thomas Sims. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Sims and his wife Barbara, his sister, Cindy S. Mahaffey and brother Mike Sims and his fiancée Laura.

Gary graduated from Jefferson Forest High School in 1978. He was a self-taught business man, starting his own business at the young age of 16 years old. He rented his father’s shop on their family property in Goode and started Sims Body Shop. In 1989, he relocated his business to Lynchburg and established Lynchburg Collision which has been in business for almost 26 years. He attended Tree of Life Ministries in Lynchburg, Va.

Gary was a devoted and loving husband, father and friend, a big hearted man that adored his family and spoiled all his animals. He was a witty jokester with a handsome mischievous grin that could always make you smile. An honest, hard-working, self-made business man, that was highly respected and loved by all who met him. In 2005 his real passion begin when he and his wife started Cedar Creek Farm. Gary’s boyhood dream of having his own farm raising cows had come true. The love of working outdoors in the rolling hills on the farm was what he enjoyed most. He has touched so many lives and hearts, life will never be the same without him. He will forever be remembered, loved and deeply missed by all who knew him. His special furry friends Annie and Penny, who he loved dearly will miss him deeply.

A visitation for Gary will be held at Tree of Life Ministries on Monday, June 8, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.   A Celebration of Life service for Gary will be held at Cedar Creek Farm, 1953 Terrace View Road, Forest, VA on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Terrace View Church Cemetery.
