Frank Carroll Roddey, 82, of Lynchburg died on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Mr. Roddey, the son of Charlotte Carroll Roddey and Oliver Fennell Roddey, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 26, 1933.
He attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served as an active officer in the United States Navy, which was followed by a career with the Aetna Insurance Company until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Roddey was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Rose Roddey; three sons, Frank Carroll Roddey Jr., of Alexandria, Alexander Gibbs Roddey, of Alexandria, and Stewart Mikell Roddey, of Richmond, six grandchildren, and a brother, Oliver Fennell Roddey Jr., of Charlotte, N.C.
He was happiest when surrounded by his wife, his three sons, and daughters-in-law and his grandchildren, Katie, Paige, Stewart, Helen, Ashleigh, and Eliza.
A memorial service will be held at 1p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. Bill Watson officiating. A reception will follow at Oakwood Country Club.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust, 101 Paulette Circle, Suite B, Lynchburg, VA 24502, St. John’s Episcopal Church 200 Boston Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503, or to a charity of your choice.
