Frank William “Bill” Elmiger, III, 75, of Lynchburg, Va., passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at home with his family by his side.

Born on September 19, 1942 in Bayonne, N.J., Bill graduated from Syracuse University majoring in Industrial Design. He was devoted to his wife of 49 years, Cheryl, and his son Jordan. Working for several firms and then independently, he built a career in furniture design resulting in a number of hit collections. His many interests included traveling, camping, skiing, and most especially music. He played and recorded in bands with high schoolmate Gary Wright (who wrote and performed “Dream Weaver”), Buddy Randell (of the Knickerbockers – “Lies”), and David Palmer (of Steely Dan). He cofounded Otis Smith and the All-Night Workers with college-mate Lloyd Baskin, composing their hit record in the northeast, “Don’t Put All Your Eggs In One Basket”.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cheryl C. Elmiger of Lynchburg, Va.; his son, Jordan C. Elmiger and wife, Julia R. Delgaudio of Wapiti, Wyoming.; his sister, Elaine Elmiger Schmit-Jongbloed of Whiting, N.J.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Elmiger, Jr., and his sister, Linda Elmiger Hinnen.

Bill will always be remembered for his gregarious spirit, compassionate heart, and friendly smile.

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, there is no service planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, Lynchburg, Va.
