Fred A. “Dick” Dooley, 95, of Bedford died on Thursday, October 25, 2018. He was born July 30, 1923 in Bedford County. A son of the late Frederick J. Dooley and Theona P. Dooley. In addition to his parents Dick was preceded in death by three brothers, James W. Dooley, Bertram B. Dooley and Leon P. Dooley; six sisters, Sadie D. Tuck, Lois D. Davis, Levia D. Chandler, Harriet “Sweetie” D. James, Hazel D. Knighton and Claudine D. Jones.
Dick served his country in the United States Navy during WW II in the Pacific. Dick was a farmer in Bedford and farmed on Wheatland Rd. on the family farm.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Ruby Wells Dooley; also several nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service and celebration of Dick’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford with Rev. Dr. H.O. Tom Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford is assisting the family.
