On Sunday, March 12, 2017 Fred Gregory Waddell, Sr. of Forest entered through God’s Eternal Gates leaving his earthly home.
Born July 26, 1930 in Charlotte Court House, Va, he was the son of the late Bertha and Bruce Waddell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Waddell Morris. He was the loving and devoted husband of Kitty Poole Waddell for 60 years. Fred leaves to cherish his memory a son, Fred Gregory Waddell, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Lynchburg.
Fred retired from General Electric Company after 33 years of service. He was a prior member of the Lynchburg Lions Club and a 50 year plus member of Hill City Masonic Lodge #183. He loved and served his Country in the U. S. Navy and obtained the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
As a longtime member of the Baptist Church, he remained faithful to his Lord throughout his life. He served as Treasurer, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of several committees and served on many others. He also served as a volunteer Tax Preparer for AARP for a number of years. He was known by all who knew him to be a quiet, generous and caring Christian person.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church 20957 Timberlake Road, at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, with Rev. Louis Beckwith officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Military Honors to be performed by American Legion Post #16.
