Fred Mitchell Pritchett departed this life on January 6, 2014 after a short illness.
He was married to Shirley Adams Pritchett (the love of his life) for 62 years. From this union came five daughters, who loved him dearly: Carolyn White (Will), Mary Stinnett (Robert), Wanda McCarty (John), Theresa Danos (Joe), and Cathy Moorefield (T.J.).
He was born in Lynchburg on June 12, 1931 to the late Mollie Pritchett and Russell Custo Pritchett.
He was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers: Dorothy Talley of Maryland, Thelma Purdue of Lynchburg, Margaret Day of Lynchburg, Louise Fitzgerald of Bedford, Willie Sprouse of Altavista, Billy Pritchett of Lynchburg, Lawrence Pritchett of Altavista.
Left to cherish his memories are 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Irma Phelps. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for ten years.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Concord, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Larry Randell officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Tharp Funeral Home.
