Frederick Augustus Terrell, Jr., died peacefully in his home on October 15, 2014. He was born in Lynchburg, VA, on April 12, 1923, to Frederick A. Terrell, Sr., and Sally Carter Terrell.
Papa Fred was loved by his very large extended family, as well as his many friends in Kiwanis and his friends on the Cowpasture River. Fred was an active member of the Lynchburg Kiwanis Club for 58 years and served in many leadership roles including club president as well as District Governor.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 55 years Kay Davis Terrell, his grandson James Andrew Richardson, his brother Prescott Carter Terrell, and his sister Sally Terrell Scott. He is survived by his children, Frederick A. Terrell, III, (Peggy), Diane Stroud (Gary), Lisa Ramsey (Ed), and Amy Pugh (Greg); his grandchildren Davis Terrell (Gretchen), Ryan Terrell Place (Jon), Lindsey Stroud Winfrey (Walt), Aaron Stroud (Elizabeth), Robert Richardson (Christy), Sally Richardson, Oliver Pugh, Lauren Pugh, Ryan Ferris, Megan Ferris Beach (Ben), Joe Ferris, Becky Bienkowski (Chris), Christopher Ramsey (Laura), and Michael Ramsey; his great-grandchildren Wilder, Minka, Will, Edie, Xander, Katherine, Amelia, Luck, Samantha, Chloe, Charlotte, Harrison, and Henry; and his sisters, Katherine Terrell Reedy, Claudia Terrell Hamblen, and Emmy Lou Terrell Anderson.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, October 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home on Breezewood Drive. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on V.E.S. Road on Saturday, November 8, at 2:00 p.m. The family will greet friends at the church following the service.
