Frederick George “Fred” Spearin

Frederick George “Fred” Spearin , 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 20, 2019 after a battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Lorene F. Spearin for 53 years.
Born in Randolph, MA on March 3, 1945, he is the son of the late, George Frederick Spearin and Juanita Cress Spearin.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tami Hudson and her husband, Todd, of Lynchburg, Va.; son, Daniel Spearin and wife, Jena, of Crozet, Va.; four grandchildren, Todd Hudson II, Zachary Hudson, Cole Spearin and Sadie Spearin; sisters, Nancy Ebbs and Diane O’Conner and brother, James Spearin.
Fred received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Liberty University in 1982 and a Master Degree in Counseling in 1986. He was employed by Liberty University from 1982-1990 and again from 1997 until his retirement in 2014.
During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, especially to Israel, and serving as a volunteer at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jonathan Falwell officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
