Frederick William Maslow, 85, of Lynchburg, died on Saturday, September 4 at his home.
Born March 19, 1925 in Bad Aibling, Bavaria, Germany, Frederick was the son of the late Georg Friedrich and Eleonore Schaefer Masloch (later changed to Maslow). He earned his Electrical Engineering Degree in 1948 from the Oskar von Miller Polytechnic Institute of Munich after completing service in the military during World War II.
He began his career with Telefunken until 1950, when he moved to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. There he met and married Maria Inoa Santana, to whom he was married for 60 years. He always referred to the Dominican Republic as his lifelong paradise. He continued his career with La Voz Domincana Television Station before moving to the United States in 1960 as an International Communications Engineer for General Electric, first in Lynchburg and then Schenectady, New York. In 1986, after 25 years of service, he retired and returned to Lynchburg to be near his family.
Mr. Maslow was a voracious reader, always surrounded by books of varying subjects. He spent much of his time involved in many hobbies ranging from computers and personal beer-making to mechanical inventions to make every-day life better.
Mr. Maslow is survived by his wife, Maria Maslow. He is also survived by his son Robert Maslow and wife Beverly of Lynchburg, VA. He had three grandchildren, Luke Maslow of Atlanta, GA, Mark Maslow of Evington, VA and Karla Maslow of Richmond, VA and was awaiting his first great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at Timberlake Christian Church on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Bob Mooty officiating.
Mr. Maslow was a life-long learner and world traveler who believed that each person should learn one new thing every day.
