Celebrate Alice Kathleen \"Pete\" 's life with a short message, photo or video!

We have lost one of the earth's special people but her spirit , her warmth and her love will live forever in my heart. She was 12 when I was born into this very special family as the first grandchild and she reminded me of this often. While I live on the west coast and do not travel, she knew from our regular phone calls how special she has always been in my life. For the last 23 years I have a file of the handwritten letters she has sent me on a regular basis,, the last one written January 2023 was sent recently by my cousin Susan. Love to all of my family in Rustburg and a special thanks to Walker and Susan for their loving care in her last days.

This makes me so sad to see this. The Burnette and Harvey families all have a very special place in my heart. I am sending my sympathies and my condolences. I loved Pete a lot, and I know that she cared for me as she often told me. I am just so sorry to hear about this and may God wrap his arms around each and everyone of you and give you the strength that you need at this time of grief.. thank you all for your hospitality, and also allowing me to meet Pete, Jerry and Helen as well as the rest of this huge family. I miss all of you from the bottom of my heart and I wished I could be there to do something. With hugs and tears, Tricia Lynn Scott

What a joy to know her as a guidance counselor so many years ago and as a recent friend! To know her wit and caring was a real pleasure.

Miss Burnette was a wonderful person and teacher. I had her for a Phy. Ed teacher at Altavista High in the late 50’s and very early 60’s. She attended many of our 1962 class reunions. She will be greatly missed.

Pete was such a wonderful lady. We have fond memories of being at the Burnette Farm for Sunrise Services and Christmas Eve gatherings. While being away from Rustburg Presbyterian Church we have missed her inspiring and thought provoking Sunday School Lessons, her humor, her always warm and welcoming smile and most of all her hugs! Our loving thoughts from our hearts to the Burnette Family.
