Amy Lowe Watson

June 21, 1972 - April 7, 2021

Once in a while a sweet, spirited soul enters the world and brings light to all that is around her. Amy Lowe Watson, 48, of Lynchburg, unexpectedly entered the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

She was born on June 21, 1972, the daughter of John T. Lowe Sr. (Mary) and Evelyn Lowe Woody (Len). She was employed with Genworth as a Vendor Management Specialist and the Neighbors Place Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her cherished uncle, Roger Hudgins, Sr. and her sister, Jennifer Ann Woody.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Chloe Alexandra Lowe; brothers, Dr. John T. Lowe and Jeff Woody (Celeste); sisters, Amber Lowe and Amy Woody Ferguson (Ben); special cousins, Michael Lowe and Chris Reynolds; Aunt Snaps (Patti Hudgins), (Aunt Merci) Mary Ann Reynolds and Aunt Linda; Uncle Frank Godsey; her former husband, Jerry Watson; adored nieces and nephews and beloved friends and neighbors;  as well as her kitty fur babies Fetty, Gucci, and Bella.

Amy was blessed with the voice of an angel and shared it on many occasions. She was a past member of the TRBC choir and performed with the TRBC young believers. Amy auditioned with and was accepted by the group Up With People and traveled and performed worldwide.

She also participated in numerous Genworth community activities.

In her past years of working at Charley’s restaurant and more recently the Neighbors Place, Amy formed many endearing friendships that she treasured. Her amazing sense of humor and joy and love for her family and friends was a legacy that will remain to all who knew her.

A celebration of Amy’s life will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021, in the Pate Chapel, TRBC Candlers Mt. Rd. with Charles Billingsley officiating. Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. prior to the service and at other times at the residence of her mother, 1015 Ivy Court Lane, Forest, Va.

I traveled with Amy in Up With People ’96 and can only confirm what so many have said. Amy could light up a room like no one else could and she clearly touched us all, bringing us together even now. A beautiful voice, accompanied by an even more beautiful spirit. She will be missed by all of us. Wishing you true peace, lovely Amy. My deepest condolences to Amy’s loved ones.

We are all richer for having a shared history with Amy walking beside us for any amount of time. She and I met in Up With People in 1996. There were 126 people who traveled in our group and every one of us felt very close to her because of her larger than life love for those around her. The thought of Amy brings light in every memory we share. We will be holding Amy's dear family and friends in our hearts and minds. Much love to you all.

I was blessed to know Amy thru work at Genworth and thru various volunteer activities at work. She was always a pleasure to be around and one of very few people who I let call me 'Stace'. Amy could always find the positive in any situation and I fondly remember her saying, more than once, 'It's all good.' Fly high Amy!

Amy and I shared the spotlight in Up With People during our tour of the US. Every night of the show I was reminded of how much of an amazing singer and performer she was. Her sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself allowed me to do the same. She was a teacher and a friend to many in the cast. I felt lucky to have spent a year with her. I'll remember her as a beautiful person with a beautiful voice and and even more beautiful spirit.

Amy was such a beautiful person, inside and out. I am an attorney with Genworth, and one day a week would work at our facility on Route 29. I walked right by Amy's desk while heading to my spot, and always took the opportunity to greet her and chat. Just seeing her brightened my day every time. We were involved in some of the same Genworth and community activities, and it was a privilege to work with her. While I don't go a long way back with her music, I did have the chance to hear her sing in a local group. In reading about her life, I can see that her talent was amazing. Amy made those around her better. She left us too soon-- she will always be remembered.

Momma Ames, our, I am forever grateful that I got to bond with you even if it were only for a short time. You have this magical touch that makes everyone feel welcome and happy. I can still here your contagious laugh... Truly God takes all the good ones first. It will be hard for everyone, but we know you are at a much better place now. This world doesnt deserve someone so awesome like you. Rest in peace our dear Momma Bear.

I had the honor of spending a year on the road with Amy (Cast A 96-97 Up With People). Her voice soared like the wind through mountain pines, but her vivacious spirit is what connected you to her deep and amazing soul. I will forever be grateful for having the gift of her in my world and that it was maintained over the years. She will forever be my ‘Virginia sweet pea’. Much love to all of her family and friends. ❤️❤️ All my love - Raiden

To Amy's family, Much like many of my castmates, I said a physical goodbye to Amy in the summer of 1997. I certainly knew Amy as a singer, but she was also my stage partner - as I sang opposite of her at many performances. As a modern day 'Romeo and Juliet', she was the anchor of the relationship... secure in her talent, strong in her performance, and convicted to our partnership - I knew when she grabbed my hand, we would have another great show. And we had many great shows! Just as 'life imitates art' as did Amy. I have vivid memories of her wit, vivacious laugh, and infectious smile. They resonate with me some 24 years later. My heart aches to learn of her passing. Our time on this earth is borrowed and Amy's impact will no doubt transcend her years. May you know of my prayers this night, as you grieve. May His grace enrich your lives with Amy's legacy, a legacy to which she has left on mine. My condolences, Jamie Cast A 96/97

i worked with amy at the neighbor’s place, she was one of my favorite people to work with. whenever i saw that we were working together, it always made me so happy and excited for our shift. i especially loved working in the same section as her. she brought such a light into this world that came from inside of her, it shone right out of her. we would laugh, joke, and tease each other - she didn’t take shit from anyone. i am so sorry your loss, it is a loss for many - she will be so greatly missed. she was so deeply loved, by so many. work isn’t the same without her smile there. i am so grateful that i got to know her and love her during the short time that we worked together. she was such a beautiful woman and leaves behind such a great legacy.

Amy and I worked at the Neighbors Place together. She was always so positive when she came into work and helped out anyway she could. She always put a smile on everyone’s face, and always made sure we were all doing okay when the restaurant got busy. Amy without a doubt knew was teamwork meant and always showed that. She made any customer feel special because of how kind and comforting she was. Amy will be deeply missed at the Neighbors Place. We love you!

Dear Amy, As a UWP traveller, I will always remember you as a shinning person with a strong energy of life. There are some people that leave you a everlasting inprint and you are one of them. Thank you for that gift as your personality will still vibrate in me and many friends. I want also to emphasize on your great sens of humour, wich is my opinion a great sign of intelligence! You once said that you liked it here (Manila) because of the close family ties & warmth of the people and that when we go to United States we will see the difference, but you also proved that wrong when you welcomed me into your home and took care of me when I was there. Not a single day that I felt Im alone in a foreign country, You are indeed a family away from home. I will never forget those beautiful smile carved in your face, its priceless. You will be forever in my heart Mama Ames. We love you. Thank you for everything.

I just found out and my heart is saddened. I don’t know the circumstances, but there’s a new angel in the heavenly choir. I’m so glad was able to know Amy from both LCA and TRBC. There is a void in many hearts which will be completed when we meet again in our heavenly home.
