Audrey Hortense Tomlin Whorley

Audrey Hortense Tomlin Whorley, 91, of Big Island, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on October 30, 1931, to the late Linwood Walter Tomlin and Josephine Virginia Tomlinson Tomlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George Arthur Whorley and her ten siblings.

Audrey was a faithful member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church where she served in many roles. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was an ordained deacon. Audrey enjoyed visiting her friends in the community, cooking, sewing, quilting and admiring her flowers. She loved her family and spending time with them. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Larry Whorley and wife, Faye; grandchildren, Erica Barnett and husband, Matthew, Kellea Hogan and husband, Matthew, Jonathan Whorley and wife, Erica, and Lauren Britton and husband, Michael; great-grandchildren, Hannah Barnett, Benjamin Barnett, Wyatt Hogan, Ava Hogan, Audrey Hogan, Annabelle Whorley, Josephine Whorley, Madeleine Whorley, Anna Britton, Gabriel Britton, Michael Britton, Julia Britton and Lydia Britton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Bledsoe officiating. Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 10:30 am.
