Bart was born April 13,1966. He grew up in Goode, Virginia on the family farm where he learned the value of hard work and an appreciation for God’s creation. Following in his father’s footsteps he joined the Forest Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 16. He taught his family to be thankful for their blessings and to care for others. Above all Bart loved God. He lived his life in service to others showing God’s love to everyone he met.
Bart loved all things outdoors. He had a special love for farming, hunting, fishing, camping and trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway. But more than anything else he loved spending time with his family.

They would also like to express special appreciation for Dr. Leonard Cohen. Dr. Cohen was with Bart and his family from the beginning and remained with them through Bart’s final moments. Dr. Cohen has been more than a Primary Care Provider. He is a true friend.
