Bart Davis Nunn

April 13, 1966 - March 2, 2023

Bart Davis Nunn, 56, of Goode, VA, died Thursday, March 2, 2023.

He is survived by his wife Tammy Bryant Nunn, his three children, Luke, Katie and Jesse Nunn and his Grandson Waylon Nunn. Bart is also survived by his parents Lewis and Phyllis Nunn and his sister Deborah (Tom) Twark.

Bart was born April 13,1966. He grew up in Goode, Virginia on the family farm where he learned the value of hard work and an appreciation for God’s creation. Following in his father’s footsteps he joined the Forest Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 16.  Through the fire department Bart would go on to serve the community that he loved for 25 years as an active member. After which he remained a lifetime member.

At the age of 22 Bart married the love of his life Tammy Bryant (Nunn). Together they raised three amazing children and were blessed with one grandson. Bart was a devoted husband, father and Popa. He taught his family to be thankful for their blessings and to care for others. Above all Bart loved God. He lived his life in service to others showing God’s love to everyone he met.

Bart loved all things outdoors. He had a special love for farming, hunting, fishing, camping and trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway. But more than anything else he loved spending time with his family.

The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Cecilia MacCallum and staff at the Alan Pearson Cancer Center and Dr. Leonid Volodin and the stem cell transplant team at UVA. They would also like to express special appreciation for Dr. Leonard Cohen. Dr. Cohen was with Bart and his family from the beginning and remained with them through Bart’s final moments. Dr. Cohen has been more than a Primary Care Provider. He is a true friend.

Bart was blessed by so many people who loved and supported him during his illness. The family would like to express appreciation for the many friends, neighbors, community members, church family and extended family who supported him through thoughts, prayers and gifts. It truly was a wonderful life.

In lieu of a service the family requests that you share comments or memories below. They can also be emailed to [email protected]. These will be made into a memory book for the family to treasure.

Worked with Bart back in 2000 for several years and he was one of the friendliest guys I've ever had a pleasure of knowing. I just happen to run up on his obit today and I was so sad to see it. Life takes everyone in a different direction but some people leave a an everlasting impression on you and Bart was one of those people. To Bart's family my heart breaks for you to lose such a special person. My prayers go out to his family, wife and children.

Bart was the true definition of a good man. He did no wrong to others and kept his faith close to him. He is now in a place that we all strive to go, he is in heaven. He is in no more pain, no more suffering, and has won the good fight and is blessed forever. Be happy! He has WON the fight! He is not gone! You will see him again in a more beautiful way you have ever seen him before so long as you retain your faith. Jesus promises us eternal life so long as we have faith, and God always will keep his promises. We love you!

Bart will forever and always be someone to look up to for me. The amount of lives he impacted will never be forgotten, I feel like most people who were touched by the grace of God through Bart never even knew his name, let alone his passing and it shows how many jewels he will have on his crown in heaven. Bart was one of only a few people left in this world who would absolutely give the shirt off of his back to anyone who needed it and he will always remain a role model within the community. My heart breaks for his family, we have all lost a very, very special member of our world and there’s not a thing I could write down to fully express how loved and how much love Bart offered. He was truly one of a kind and while the world may still turn, it won’t turn the same without him. I’m sorry I wasn’t there more in the end. Here’s to one of the greatest men who ever lived

The night I lost my father passed I don't remember much. There were firefighters there and rescue squad trying to help my father. I remember sitting on the steps outside losing it when suddenly I feel someone just wraps me in there arms just holding me tight. It was Bart. He just sat there and held me. Out of all the commotion he noticed me and came to make sure I was ok. And weeks afterwards he would stop by to check on me. That meant the world to me. It showed that a man who barely knew me cared so much to make sure I was ok. He could have just ignored me but he didn't. That shows how big of a heart Bart had. When I was at one of the darkest part of my life you were there for me and I thank you so much. I will truly miss you my friend and will see you on the other side. To Tammy and the Nunn family I give my sincere condolences and for yall during this time of bereavement. Love yall.❤️
