Blanche Foster Laury

August 16, 1954 - November 25, 2021

Blanche Foster Laury transitioned on Thursday November 25, 2021 at her residence. She was born on Monday August 16, 1954 to Herbert Mckinley Foster and Rebecca Bennett Foster. She is preceded in death by her father Herbert McKinley Foster; her sister Ida Ward.

In addition to her mother Rebecca Bennett Foster of Crewe, VA, she is survived by her loving husband of 39 years (her Rock as she would refer to him as) Ernest Lorenzo Laury of Forest, VA; two children, Nelson Lamont Foster of Lynchburg, VA and Crystal Chantae’ Laury of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren Jordan McKinley Foster of Richmond, VA, Payton Na Sus Kaylyn Smith of Durham, NC, Storm McKinley Foster of Lynchburg, VA, Ryder Leigh Koonce of Orlando, FL and Ayyen Aahmese Bowling of Orlando, FL; three sisters Eleanor Foster of Merrietta, GA, Joyce Turner (Husband Samuel) of Richmond, VA, Jacqueline Mitchell (Husband Harry) of Richmond, VA ; three brothers-in-love Nathaniel Laury (Jackie) of Goochland VA, Lynn Laury Jr. of Buckingham VA, Clyde Laury of Atlanta, GA; three sisters-in-love Kathleen Laury of Charlottesville, VA, Darlene Anderson (husband David) of Dillwyn, VA, Carolyn Carey of Buckingham, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There is an old saying that when one life ends another begins. Our family was able to experience this dynamic with the birth of Blanche’s youngest grandchild Ayyen. He was born one hour after Blanche’s transition. It is with great hopes that in her journey she crossed paths with Ayyen and in some way was able to share her love before he entered the world.

Blanche attended Nottoway High School in Crewe, VA and obtained her Bachelors of Social Work from Ferrum College in Ferrum, VA. She had a lifelong career in serving others. She was so generous and giving, helping others in any way that she could. Blanche enjoyed owning and operating Laury Homes Residential Services, Inc. She also found pleasure in shopping, gardening, collecting bird houses and watching the squirrels eat from them. In addition to that she collected yard statues of frogs, frequented casinos and riding motorcycles. She also enjoyed attending drag races and NFL football games.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday December 4, 2021 at 1pm. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 220 Breezewood Dr Lynchburg, VA 24502.

Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family.

My sincere condolences and prayers are extended to Blanche's family. I pray that the God wraps his comforting arms around you and give you peace knowing that she is resting peacefully now. I knew Blanche from our days at Southside VA Community College. She was one of my hanging partners. We had some great times and we had reconnected in the past few years and spoke often. I remember her pleasant spirit and will carry those memories with me always. Gone but never forgotten...RIP my friend.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time . I remember Blanche's warm and kind spirit during the times I saw and talked with her . Her love and dedication to serving others was reflected in the care that she gave to her clients. She will be missed and remembered by many. Fly high Blanche, say hello to my Mama ( Hannah ) for me .
