Carless Eugene Craighead
Carless “Craig” Craighead of Goodview, Virginia passed away on Thursday, August 25th, 2022.
Craig was born July 20, 1949.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earsie Faye and George Dennis Craighead, his brothers, Denny and Dallas Craighead and sisters Earsie Proctor and Shirley Jean Craighead.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Vickie Trent Craighead: His son, Scott Craighead of Tarpon Springs, Florida and his daughter Misty Frankenberry and her husband Joseph, of Vinton, Virginia. His grandchildren: Alexis, Morgan, Dylan, Daniel and Karli. His brothers: Arthur Craighead of Magnolia, Texas, David [Doc]Craighead of Hudson, Florida, Dewey Craighead of Costa Rica, and Bobby Craighead and his wife Tammy of Marion, Virginia. His sisters: Donna Watson and her husband Jerry of Moneta, Virginia, Kathy Maddox and her husband Charles of Indian Land, South Carolina, Debbie Fontaine and her husband Mark of Wytheville, Virginia, Mary and her husband Carl of Rocky Mount, Virginia, Susan and her husband Timmy of Roanoke, Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
A graduate of Cave Spring High School, Craig went on the join the Air Force. Then After marrying the love of his life, Vickie, they lived in New Mexico, where their son, Scott, was born. From there they moved to Italy where their daughter, Misty, was born. Afterward they moved to North Carolina before returning to the Roanoke area. He then went to college at Radford University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982.
He and Vickie built a home in Bedford, Virginia with the help of family and friends where they resided for the past 28 years. During this time, he worked as an insurance agent then retired from Rick Woodson Honda after 17 years.
The second love of his life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Old classic cars were another love, which he enjoyed restoring for many years. He also loved boating, skiing, camping and being with his with family and friends. Residing in rural Virginia, he enjoyed watching all the wildlife around his home.
Craig’s family would like to express sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown during this time of grief and sadness. Your love and support will always be remembered.
Craig loved life so we will be having a celebration of his life on Wednesday, August 31st at 6:00 pm at the Charles R. Hill Senior Center (next to the Vinton War Memorial) located at 820 East Washington Ave., Vinton Virginia.
